Parents@MacRob is an association of parents of students at the Mac.Robertson Girls' High School. We aim to improve the community spirit of the school, increase engagement and develop the school community by liaising with the school staff, students and council. We organise events to raise money for programs within the school for the benefit of students, teachers and parents.
For most of us, MacRobertson Girls' High School is a not our local, neighbourhood school. Sometimes theres a very long commute on public transport for the girls. Some travel up to three hours a day. The students come from all over Melbourne.
The physical distance for many students and parents makes it a bit difficult for parents to engage with the school community. This is where the Parents Association fits in. We aim to increase the inclusiveness of the Mac.Rob by providing opportunities for parents to get involved.
You will most likely first see us in action at the information evening for incoming Year 9 parents in November. We also hold a second hand uniform sale in December each year to help keep the price of school affordable and recycle items no longer required by the girls.
We also organise the very popular International Ball, which is for parents, students and friends of the Mac.Rob community. The Ball is held annually at the St Kilda Town Hall. Booking will go on sale in February 2016.
The funds we raise go towards equipment and facilities that the school and students require. We have a small grant scheme to offer financial assistance for extra-curricular activities for the students. We even have a student welfare fund.
To make your time at Mac.Rob as rewarding and enjoyable as possible for your daughter, please join us at parents@macrob. Our meetings and activities are informative, fun and sociable - and open to all parents. We look forward to welcoming you soon.
